 How to balance NanoPi Duo2 camera and hard coding

So what should I do if I want to use hard-coding and the camera?
1. If I use the Linux-3.4 kernel, are there other (non-USB) cameras that can be used?
2. If I use Linux-4.14, is there any relevant encoder driver source code that I can compile myself?
